By the time I finished messing about with the computer, packed, had a shower etc. it was well after midnight. I awoke 10minutes before the alarm was due, went back to sleep and then was re awakened by the alarm on the phone. The bedside clock didn’t go off. I had breakfast and was checking out about 10 to 7 and I noticed the driver was already there. He loaded my bags while I completed the checkout. We were on the road 5 minutes later and took only 5 minutes to get to the motor way and about 2 ½ hours back to WB hotel. Heres the big BMW ad I was telling you about yesterday and yet another Budha image on the gates to a temple somewhere on the road.
Again we took the elevated tollway, which ends rather abruptly, and we descend to the main road. This is still 3 lanes each way with the 2 frontage lanes on either side also 3 lanes wide and one way traffic. You can’t exit directly from the main road and there are no intersections. You have to cross into the frontage road first and then exit from there. Because the frontage roads are one way they have these U-turn bridges from one side to the other even 10 km or so. Again you have to exit the main road to get on to the bridges.
I dozed most of the way home– or at least I had my eyes shut.
I was a bit dopey most of the day but forced myself to keep at it. I was actually quite lively by the end of the day.
I was chatting with one of the company men over dinner, a big, black guy from the states, who has been working all over the place (as so many of them do in that line of business). He had some interesting stories to tell. Apparently the rig was moving so he spent the night in the hotel. He usually lives on site.
I watched a bit of Wimbledon on the TV and did the crossword before heading back to my room to finish the unpacking. Boring!
Tuesday 1st
I didn’t even get around to posting my blog from yesterday.
Time is starting to run out if I want to be on the plane on Friday. Today I wrote the import routine for the tanker shipment data. I got it all working, including options to record new names, trucks and trailers that are found in the imported data. When I installed it on Pui’s PC it fell over with and “old format” message. She has a newer version of Office than I do. Fortunately I could post a query on the net and had what I hope is the solution just before home time. I have put it in and will test it tomorrow.
While pui and Bee are working on the data I started on the calculations and made a decent bit of progress this afternoon. Maybe I’ll make it.
There were a number of power outages this afternoon and a heavy shower about 4 or 5. It is now just bucketing down at 9 pm. There was also a big storm with thunder and lightning last night. The monsoons are here.
While watching the tennis last night I noticed lterally dozens of gekko’s or similar small lizards running over the ceiling in the canteen. They especially seem to cluster around the light bulbs. One even was running over the TV screen for most of the night.
There are also a number of kittens about the place. This one was curled up under the paper rack.
This morning, I found out that you can get wireless internet connection in the canteen. Can’t get it in my room though and its too wet to go over now.
