Another week has passed and the weekend is again upon us. My driver asked if I was going to Bangkok this weekend and in fact most people assumed I would be. However I decided I’d rather go somewhere else and was looking at playing some golf. There is a lot of info on the net but you still have to have a map to figure out where all these courses are and whether you can reasonably get to them.
I tried to call a number of them but there was no answer, I couldn’t communicate or in one case the hotel was booked out. I talked to a German owner of a golf tour company in Bangkok who just said with only one person I could probably just turn up and recommended a couple of places and pointed out some limitations o9f others. After hunting a bit more on the web I decided to go to the Royal Hills resort and golf. Its this side of Bangkok so probably under 2 hours away. They have a special – 2 games of golf and a room for 1 night for under $100. I will need to hire clubs, a cart pay for a caddy etc but this is not much more than my room alone in Bangkok.
All this seemed to take a lot of time but I did do a reasonable amount of work as well, importing the injection data and starting on the reports.
The driver will be here at 8am and I have a 12 noon tee off booked. Hopefully this will be ample time to settle in and get clubs etc organised. On Sunday I’m playing at 10 and getting picked up at 5. Fingers crossed, the weather will be kind to me. It was sunny for most of today.
Today’s pictures are of a small temple across the road from the hotel. It seems a much bigger one is being constructed nearby. I also got a snap of one of the many frogs that I hear during the night.
Finally, there is a photo of a tricycle taxi. Most of the vehicles I see on the road around here are either 4WD pickups, mostly with dual cabs or scooters. It seems some very young kids are riding these scooters on their own. I’d guess they’d still be primary school age in some case. It is also common to see 3 people on a scooter and occasionally even 4. The tricycle was a bit of a novelty.
